Exploring Eastern Passage

Explore the beautiful waters of Eastern Passage where once sailed the famous Captain Cook, surveying every point and inlet. You too may see the eagles and ospreys soaring overheard but keep your eyes pealed for our harbour seals as they bob their heads up to see who's new in town.

Take a walk on Lawlor's Island and McNabs Island Provincial Park and discover the past as cannons stand guard. Finish the day with a tasty morsel from the sea at Fisherman's Cove.

A new world awaits!

Learn about the unique mi'kmaq, French and British history of the island. Keep an eye out for deer, the shy fox and numerous osprey.

Lawlor's Island

OLD QUARANTINE STATION

Did you know that Lawlor's Island was used as a quarantine station to isolate sick passengers, ridden with various diseases back in the late 1800's and early 1900's?! There were three different hospitals built so that the first class, second class and third class didn't have to mingle. You can still see the ruins of the old hospitals if you venture through the woods.
